Retro Swag Lamps
under Ceiling LampsSwag lamps were a popular type of ceiling lamp that was popular in the 1950s, although the peak of popularity didn’t really arrive until the 1970s with almost every house sporting at least one swag lamp hanging from the ceiling.
Swag lamps got their name from the hanging technique that was used where they had two hooks and a swag in between. They were invariably made from the latest wonder material of the time, being plastic and were produced in large quantities. The swag lamp is distinguished by the fixture to the ceiling by a long chain with the electrical cord running through it. Installation is quite simple.
Nowadays these retro swag lamps are once again sought after as the retro style is being replicated and this mainstay of the retro era drips with the look and feel that sets the room off.
